Meet Parker, the patient shown below. He’s one of INI’s patients who was treated for a giant nevus on his cheek, eyebrow, eye, and nose.
We removed Parker’s nevus and reconstructed his cheek, eyebrow, eyelid, and nose using surgical excision tissue expansion, and skin grafting to remove the nevus.
The photos below document his journey from diagnosis to school age. By starting early, we were able to reduce Parker’s risk of skin cancer and achieve the best possible outcome before he began school.
Before Surgery: Initial Consultation
Here, you can see Parker at a very young age during his initial consultation. He was diagnosed with a giant congenital melanocytic nevus on his face. We then discussed a surgical plan with his parents.

Parker underwent a final surgery to remove the birthmark around his eye and cheek area. His progress is noticeable in just a few months of healing. Right after the final surgery, the area looked red and swollen, but over time, the skin has smoothed and lightened.
Now, he’s back to playing with his wooden train toys, & the results show how well he has healed.
